“When intellect does not function properly, disease begins” Charak, 300 BC
Hypnosis is a natural state of extreme focus and a powerful tool for bringing our rational mind, our subconscious and our body in balance. It was discovered and used by the ancient Egyptians to treat maladies of the mind, and in the Ayurveda approaches of Indian culture, we know this because of documentations of previous colleagues. This documentation started over 2000 years ago and continues as You Read. You may have noticed that in most areas of expertise there are individuals keen on investigating, experimenting, documenting and Sharing the possibilities of their area. To create a collective interchange of minds and experiences a network is of great use among these who are most dedicated. Our mission is being one of these networks.
Although it is a natural state of mind we all pass through on our way to and from sleep, hypnosis is still viewed with skeptical eyes, mainly by those who have invested in a different belief, expertise or business paradigm.
The International Hypnotists Guild crosses the borders of all existing professions with one objective: To collect, develop and bring to everyones mind the incredible, yet simple and natural power of hypnosis. This knowledge belongs to you.
The members listed officially are only some of our members, since there are people who still work in paradigms where it is considered radical to be involved in hypnosis.
Regardless if a hypnotic induction is used to simply entertain and amuse or to heal a troubled mind with tools of NLP or other roads of therapy, the need for proper ethics and a masterful skill is the same.
The Guild recognizes that there are skilled professionals with and without formal training, since the mastering of the skills of hypnosis in its purest form is easily compared to that of a musician. Many can play the notes, and the result can be recognized as a specific song, maybe even an enjoyable one – however there are fewer who compose new music and even fewer who reach mastery. Having an instrument and reading scores does not make great music, but it’s a good start. This is why the Guild also certifies certain hypnotic skills through both training, assessments and case reports. Working with hypnosis is an ancient profession that will continue to reveal its values in our future experiences.
The Guild recognizes also that every master started somewhere, and is therefore open to aspiring masters as much as those at the peak of their career – because this is the whole idea: to model each other, and generations of hypnotists to come, for the love of mankind and every persons right to the full potential of your mind.
